Vector Illustration Series – Family Togetherness for Ronald McDonald House Charities

Project Overview:

I created a series of custom vector illustrations as part of an animated video campaign supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The focus was on visual storytelling that communicates warmth, connection, and emotional support—values at the heart of the Family Room initiative, which provides comforting spaces for families with hospitalized children.

A Ronald McDonald Family Room is a quiet place away from the medical space, for families to recharge, grab a bite to eat, shower, or get rest during the long days of testing or treatment.


Concept & Artistic Direction:

In partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities, this heartwarming animated video brings to life the power of staying close. Through vibrant illustrations and thoughtful storytelling, we showcase how the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms inside hospitals provide comfort, care, and a sense of home for families with seriously ill children.

Created with compassion and creativity, these illustrations aim to highlight the emotional journey families face—and how a warm, welcoming space can make all the difference. These Family Rooms are more than just a place to rest; they’re a lifeline during one of the most difficult times a family can endure.

The artistic style was intentionally warm, clean, and emotionally expressive. I used soft color palettes, rounded shapes, and gentle motion to convey safety and compassion.

The illustration style was optimized for animation, balancing expressive detail with clean, modular design for smooth motion transitions.

Purpose & Impact:

The goal of the project was to raise awareness about the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and how they help families stay together during medical crises. The illustrations played a central role in delivering an emotionally resonant message that was accessible, hopeful, and visually engaging.

By telling a human-centered story through art, the project aimed to inspire support, donations, and empathy.

Deliverables:

• Full set of vector illustrations for animated video (characters, environments, supporting elements)

• Illustration style guide to ensure visual consistency throughout animation and campaign materials

• Assets formatted for motion design, including separated layers for facial expressions, body parts, and environmental details

• Social media cutdowns and still frames for promotional use across platforms
